Ouch!! That hurts... Really hurts. Especially for most of the target markets like small bots which need to be re-programmed all the time. All you need is three wires, VPP,SDA,SCL on a tiny 3-pin header. Then just tie MCLR to +5v with a 47k resistor. Your board can be powered from it's own +5v supply and the common GNDs can be connected. All my small projects have this 3-pin ICSP header, and we use the Picstart to program them. A 4-pin header (including GND) is even better but you're the one with real estate issues... ;o) Are you saying you can't fit a 3-pin SIL header (and one 47k resistor) anywhere on that big board??
