I have played with both packages (currently own MEL standard). I think both are equal in quality, but each answer different needs. MEL is only geared to a 14 bit PIC while LET basic can handle both 12 and 14 bit PIC's. MEL has been around longer than LET. Its compiler is stable and it optimizes code reasonably well, I don't know about LET. LET has a great manual for beginners The standard version of LET has commands (HIGH,LOW) to access pins on both Ports A,B,C directly where as MEL has this ability to do this with the Pro version only. The standard version is limited to only one port (A I think). There also appears to be allot more support and sample programs for MEL's compiler. The best compiler would be one that uses the best of both, but I have not had the time to write it yet. Choose the one that meets your needs the best. Anyone interested in writing one together, please let me know. -----Original Message----- From: Milan Pavlica (YU7AEC) [mailto:mpavlica@PTT.YU] Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 9:26 AM To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Subject: [PIC]: PBP vs. LET PICBASIC Hello PICers, i have one question...
