Sorry, no.

There is no standard document that proclaims that a tab "0x09" character
will occupy eight screen positions. Or tab to the nearest multiple of eight.

I don't wish to continue an argument with you Bill. I just don't want anyone
who has read your statement to regard it as the absolute truth. You may FEEL
that your opinion is widely accepted, but I know of no evidence to support
it.

Text editors would do away with the tab options if your statement were true.

My opinion: Tabs suck. They always have, always will.
