ASK is not a complete designation for a modulation scheme. A0 is (CW
telegraphy is A0). Most 433 MHz modules are A0 but at short distances some
are not. This is because they have continuously working oscillators and a
switched power stage. At short distances (inches) they can 'open' the
receiver even when keyed off. You very likely do not have one of those.
