Hi All, I have a project that needs to switch a 240Vac 0.8A motor. The motor is a 3 wire type with I assume a centre tapped winding. It also has a 5uF capacitor for phase-lag (direction) control. I was thinking of using two 5A relays (1 for on/off, 1 for direction) to control it. What I want to know is should I put some sort of snubber on the relay contacts? Maybe a triac based solution is the better way to go instead of the relays? Would the inductive nature of the motor cause problems when switching with a triac?
