I just uploaded another clock project which may help out understanding
multiplexed displays.

It comes with 16 source code files which slowly build up the project
from scratch.

There are 2 versions, internal timebase and mains frequency timebase.

A 32 page PDF document discusses each of the source code files and how
to use MPLAB to assemble and step through them.

A Protel schematic and PCB design are also included.
