Assuming you're looking for new, I've been very happy with Hantronix (see my
post about HALT testing one of their displays). They quoted $7.95 for a 8x2
extended temperature display, with a 3" ribbon cable soldered onto the PCB,
and a SAMTECH connector on the cable.

If you're looking for used, or small proto quanties, All-Electronics has
16x2 backlight LCD's for $7.50.
