Microchip have always had a stated policy of  short leadtimes once
parts are in production - I've not heard of anyone waiting more than a
couple of weeks. Also there are so many varients that other parts can
often be easily used as a stopgap.=20

The only thing that has occasionally been a problem is the 'once in
production' bit - how long did we all wait for the F87x's....?
