One way may be to send the audio as 600 ohm balanced lines down 2 pairs of a CAT5 cable. The Analog Devices SSM2142 (driver) and SSM2141 (receiver) chips work well. For the data you could use 2x MAX485's et each end. (1ea for Tx & Rx) This would use the other 2 pairs in the CAT5 cable. Not sure if you'd have any crosstalk between the data and audio lines. Using MAX483's (slew limited) may help there. I guess it all depends on what the intended application is and how much fiddling around you want to do.
