i've never used a pic and i could use a suggestion from anyone on which i need
to get

i need it to have about 14 I/O lines and a serial port that i can connect to a
sound module kit to control the sound module

what do you think?
can i have a serial I/O and the actual lines to go directly into other
circuits.
