I hate it when the background noise rises to mask the music, but you can still
hear the "beat" if it can be called that from a bass guitar or drum. This I find
absolutely distracting, and I got the music turned off in the workshop I was in
because of this. For the music to be effective it has to be at a level that
enables it to be heard above the background work noise without being intrusive
in itself.
