Hi Clyde,

its really interresting discussion about HiTech's compiler. I think it
should be so hard to write an optimizing compiler for 18c. Because

1) you have experience with Pic C. 18c has instructions compatible with 16c.

2) you make compiler for 68HC05 and 68HC11, specialy HC11 has similar
opcodes to 18C.

The compiler/optimizer should then take the well optimized code from this
two CPU's and combine it together. For example 8-bit integer math and branch
optimizing from HC11, from Pic C indirect call to functions.
