Hi Folks, I'm (very) happy to say that "Programming and Customizing PICmicro(R) Micrcontrollers" (the second edition of "Programming and Customizing the PIC Microcontroller") is being printed as I write this. The galleys are done, the CD-ROM has been mastered and the PCBs have been built. The scheduled availability date is November 22nd, but I would probably expect the first week of December. This book is essentially a total rewrite of the first edition with an emphasis on working through all the different PICmicro MCU families and their features. I have rearranged some of the early chapters to improve the flow of the information and I have included a lot more information for beginners. There are now 45 experiments to help the reader understand and become acquainted with the PICmicro MCU as well as 25 projects. The experiments have been updated to use the PIC16F87X as well as the PIC16F84. The CD-ROM included in the book contains all the source code to the applications along with an extensive HTML interfae with appendix information for cutting and pasting as well as two large pdf files, "Introduction to Electronics" and "Introduction to Programming" that were written to help explain the background concepts presented in the book. Included in the package is a PCB which can be used to build an "El Cheapo" programmer. This PCB will allow the reader to program the 8 and 14 pin low-end PICmicros MCUs (PIC12C50X and PIC16C505) as well as most of the mid-range PICmicro MCU processor family.
