I know I could do this with a PIC but there's probably a better
solution.
I'm looking for uC available in QFP or similarly small flat package
with some onboard ROM (OTP/Flash) and a non-multiplexed external bus.
The only other requirement is a uart and I2C or SPI. Cost matters.
Qty in hundreds.

I seem to be thinking Japanese like H8/300, M16. Any others from the
collective wisdom ?

Oh - One other requirement - Not on allocation !!
