recently someone was asking after a sensor for rotation around the y axis. I
just had some stuff come through my mailbox from infineon. have a look at
www.infineon.com/designlink/3220 for info on a magnetic sensor that may do the
trick. It is not clear from the little info I have if it is sensitive enough to
use the earth's magnetic field, but I suspect it may not be from their suggested
uses. may still be worth a look.
