Same thing here in Canada, although often they are sold not because they are cheaper but because they are simply not available here. For example, I bought a Sony Walkman with TV Audio. I'm not sure what the law says (as long as they aren't smuggled in), but morally I don't see something wrong with this practice, the consumer takes the brunt of the risk (no warranty) and everyone gets paid the said amount. However I do see something wrong if you buy a product gray market that IS available in your own market, you are cheating the local distributors that way. Just my opinion.
