Mike I have a plextar CDRW and I can burn both CDRs and CDRWs. If I burn a CDRW and only use part of it the software will ask me if I want to close the session. If I close it I cannot add to it but if I do not close the session I can add to the disc, Or I can completely erase the disc at any time and re-write to it. Some CDR drives won't let you add any files to a disc after it has heen used once regardless of weather you used the hole disc or only added one file. So ultimately the answer to your question depends the brand, model, and date for your drive. Newer drives will let you use a CDRW in a CDR and then continue to use that disc as a CDRW.
