This tallies nicely with the modchips thread!

Here there seems to be a case where someone has an item that has security
built into it.  They wish to circumvent that security, which primarily
exists to protect the rightful owner from theft.

As the owner of said bit of kit, I would probably contact Blaupunkt directly
for information, being ready with proof of ownership...  I'd also construe a
reluctance to do so as nefarious.

Double standards?  I don't believe so.
