I am a graduate at the P.E Technikon (South Africa), currently busy with a project(want to use RFID tags for student cards opening doors and logging entry information) involving Microchip's 125KHz microID developement kit. I have used their design guide and built the MCRF250 anticolision reader as it is not part of the developement kit(MCRF200)I have. I have two sample cards MCRF250-I/40A programmed and tested for me by a local company in South Africa. The RFLAB software detects the reader when I select the comm port its connected to, but I cannot get the reader to read the tags, and send the information to the host computer. I have worked through the circuit information in the design guide on page 108 and tested all the connections on my board acording to the schematic design given. Not designing the circuit from scratch prevents me to do fault finding on it as I have no knowledge on what exactly the circiut should do. If it is posible to help me with a few testpoint information, such as pin logic levels, waveshapes, volage levels at critical points on the circuit I can work towards my fault. I am using the antenna coil taken from the ASK reader on my design, if that is maybe the reason for my circuit not working can you please let me kmow. If you are unable to help me in this regard, will you please refer me to someone that will be able to help me as I need to get the reader to operate for my project. Thanks for all your trouble, hope that you will be able to help. Jacques Kotze (P.E.
