Around Christmas 99 there was a discussion about termination
resistors. IIRC it either mentioned or developed into something
about transmission problems.

Several problems have been posted regarding erratic operation
of circuits, and some were found to be caused by excess wiring

I've just this very day had the experience of an AVR programmer
not working when attached to LPT via an extension cable. It had
to be straight into LPT (ie 2ft not 6ft) or data writing was flakey
