I'd like to see AVR acceptable in some form on the PIClist. I use them 50/50 with PICs and wouldn't want to join another list, mostly because I've got used to the amount of mail and quality of help on this one. Locally I can buy AVR 2313s for $7 in any quantity but PIC 877s are $27 each for a tube lot of 13, which is the MOQ. Consequently I do not buy PICs for simple UARTs at the moment, but that could change with any new job that comes in. Many [EE] posts aren't micro-specific so principles discussed apply to many different types, and if the PIC list can expand to AVRs and so increase (or at worst, not decrease) in membership then I'd say why not.
