Look at the datasheet of almost any ceramic resonator (3 pins). The pins
are marked 1,2,3 and 1 says In and 3 says Out ;-) I thought this was bogus
until I talked to a guy who actually seems to know and it seems that some
are actually built using SAW technology and the input and output sections
are indeed different. If you hook it up the wrong way around then the
actual frequency may be different and the bandwidth larger or it could
jump close-by modes or something like that. FYI a good quality SAW is as
good as a good quartz crystal ;-). However all cheap resonators are not
SAW (SAW is expensive) based so we are probably safe here ;-) ;-).
