Wow! Totally cool! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a "monitor" for the '87x just like I grew up with for the 8080, z80, 650x, 1802, x86, etc... Very useful, very nice. Maybe even better than the ICD, especially if you need the io pins more than you need the USART. The 8 breakpoints are also good. Now, would you please work with Tony Nixon to add a Windows IDE front end like the ROMZap so that source level debugging and other nice display features can be added and so that the size of the monitor in the device can be reduced? The EMU-II is a PIC16F87x based emulator for the PICmicro MCU that does not use the "built in debug" features of the devices. The EMU-II takes advantage of the ability of the PIC16F87x to read and write its own program memory. It connects to a Host system via RS-232 running at 1200 bps (8-N-1) and can use a standard terminal emulator to download application hex files. Note that like MPLAB-ICD, the EMU-II requires that the user place a "nop" as the first instruction in the application. This nop is used to bypass the application during EMU-II boot. If you go to: http://www.myke.com/PICMicro/emu-ii.htm you will see: 1. A description and operating instructions for the application 2. Schematic with Bill of Material for the application along with assembly instructions and suggestions 3. Hex file along with the source code for the application Please note that this application is made available for single-use non/commercial users only. I'm looking forward to any suggestions, comments or concerns that you may have regarding it. myke -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: "[PIC]:" PIC only "[EE]:" engineering "[OT]:" off topic "[AD]:" ad's -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
