I have done a project using a 16F877 that included a servo controller of an
electric motor driven by PWM.  It uses the A/Ds to measure inputs and
feedback signals and does floating point servo calculations.  It included a
serial link to an optional host computer for debugging or setting up the
control parameters.  The host can even perform the servo calculations for
easy experimenting.
