Hi All, Looking for the Free/OpenSource languages for PIC micros, I've found the SIL language (http://www.kolumbus.fi/larsil/pcomp.htm). It seems to me that it is not as mature as JAL written by Wouter van Ooijen, but it is OpenSource (at least the Linux version: http://www.kolumbus.fi/larsil/siltar.gz which is GPL'ed), so it should not be difficult to make it a really good tool for new midrange PICs, if there are enough people interested in it... Unfortunately both compiler and the home page remain unchanged since 1998, and I don't if it still under active development. Dear piclisters, if you have any experiences with SIL, I'd like to know if it is worth of further development (eg. adding optimized support for multibank 16F87x architecture)? BTW. Why SIL is not mentioned in the Compilers section of http://www.gnupic.org even though it's GPL'ed? -- TIA & Greetings Wojciech Zabolotny wzab@ise.pw.edu.pl http://www.ise.pw.edu.pl/~wzab When buying any hardware, ask the dealer if it is Open Source friendly!!! http://www.openhardware.org -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
