I have been watching the Piclist lately with the question in mind if I =
should change from

good old xx51 to young and versatile Pic system. Most important pro Pic =
is the existence=20

of MPC 2510 CAN interface, tailor made for Pics.

I do not recall what all your requirements are, but the main task, the =
general call is=20

implemented in the CAN protocol's sophisticated addressing sceme on =
silicon. If you can live with it's=20

limitations: - range < 1.2 km and rather slow at that distance -, you =
get great side benefits with CAN,=20

a super error management and priority handling in the addressing scheme. =


All that rather cheaply, for Pic users, the 2510 (with 2 transmit and 3 =
receive buffers! ) and being a symmetric 2 wire bus, the=20

CAN bus can do with cheap telephone cable.=20

Next to the great variety of Pic controllers, my impression of the =
engaged and active communication=20

In the List is my major attraction to the Pic system. Definitely more =
valuable than any helpdesk I know.

So, if anyone has leads for me as to Pic + Can bus, it would further my =
decision to change very much.
