Earlier, I asked for help getting MPLAB to function correctly on one of my
computers (all other software *appeared* to be working ok).

Yesterday, I bit the bullet and did a re-install of Win98: bingo! No
problem. MPLAB works fine now. Something somewhere was seriously bent.

My thanks to those who made helpful suggestions! As usual the piclist is
the place to go for solutions, even uncommented ones!
