I2C (I-squared-C or IIC) stands for "Inter Ic Communication". It's a way to let several IC's communicate with each other thu 2 signal-lines (Clock and Data). One of the most used I2C-capable IC's here in Micro-controller land are EEProms. That way we can add external data-memory, without losing too many I/O-pins.
