All PIC micros have code protection.  To date, none of the 16F8xx flash chips
have been known to be easily broken into once the code protection is set.

I don't recall whether the 16f84 is easily broken, but I understand it is not
too difficult for a hobbyist to break a 16C84 (not sold any longer)
