Just incase it wasn't entirely clear, Russell is joking here. The PICList doesn't mind people talking about whatever as long as it is properly tagged (as you did) and the sad fact that many long time piclisters can seem to remember how to type [OT]: is not in anyway your fault. Your last post broke several PICLIst rules badly. This is the PICLIST. Despite what the name may suggest we talk about ANYTHING here - often to the despair of the list admin. It's not done to be apologetic about the content of your posts - this may upset some people. Suggesting as you do that there may be a time and a place for certain discussions is liable to have people wanting or expecting a sense of order or timeliness. This is really not on. Here we usually expect people to talk about anything any time and even if we don't expect it they do it anyway. Encouraging people to feel like they are in the real world and not actually dealing with things like PICs is most distressing list behaviour - if everyone behaved like this on-list people would become most disturbed and may even start behaving politely and normally. I note that even though you are a PICList beginner .you have correctly used the [OT]: tag. This is quite distressing to old timers like eg me who still occasionally fall into the trap of leaving off the ":". Having David-come-latelies do it right 1st time can be upsetting to we oldies and should probably be avoided initially. I note that this seems to be only your second post to the list so you may perhaps be slightly excused for these misdemeanours. I have forwarded this message to the list administrators so they are aware that you have received an appropriate warning and do not take further action. regards Russell McMahon _____________________________ PS - welcome to the PICList - hope you enjoy it.
