Tom, I have a customer whose code is set up to use either chip. Only the fuses were different, as I recall. Hi Darrel One of my customers heard from Future that the 16C71 is going to be obsoleted soon. He asked us so I called the so-cal Microchip office. The person who answered the phone said it is not on any lists she had so we should consider it still in production. Digi-key told me the same thing. Now my customer is worried and concerned. Is there some way you can find out the true story here for us? We would appreciate the right answer. By the way, the person at Future suggested using the 16C711 as it is cheaper. I noticed that it has twice the program memory and also twice the ram. Do you know by any chance if '71 programs will drop right in and run or do they need to be massaged around a bit to account for the larger amounts of memory? Thanks for any help you can offer!
