Worst case, find someone local to you who can program an EPRom for you -
I'd burn one for you (Have a 10-gang EPRom programmer and 2
single-socket jobs) but I'm "half a world away".)

Robotics groups are a good place to look for people with device
programmers (also see mechatronics as it's sort of the same area, and
any ham clubs or other electronics clubs around you.)

"a serial port dummy spit", ??  <G>  Guessing that's a BAD occurence,
though.
