Agreed.  It would probably get you even further if you explained that the
reason you want to test at an airport is to avoid potential problems when
users take them through, and that once you know it's safe to do you you'll
be sure to advise users that airport X-ray machines won't cause any harm
to the device.  I'll bet they're probably tired of people getting paranoid
about their Palm V's and such.
