Solid Al caps have a similar crowbar failure mode and create much heat and gnashing of teeth from any suits that happen to be in the room. They seem to be about as tolerant of abuse as their wet cousins, which is way ahead of tants. Personally, I tend to use a small wet electrolytic plus a ceramic in places where you most often see tants. The combination has similar overall response and they are far more generic in use.
