I must say I am surprised by how many refer to problems with the LM2576 series switchers. I must admit I didn't use them in a very normal way (producing 10A) but found them very good even though I had not put any effort into layout (just heavy gauge wires) and self wound inductors. I must admit I used about 4 x 4700uF caps, but then I was pulling a lot of juice, with no real ripple. Did not check for EMI, but was used with audio gear and could only hear CPU noise not PSU. The inductors themselves tended to hum a little, but I wouldn't think that would happen at lower loads. cya, Andrew... http://www.opendesign.cx
