[such as RS232 ports] can hang Win9x, in cases where the same h.w. has been "previously" acquired by a resident Windows program [such as mouse driver, modem s.w., etc]. Since P16PRO accesses the printer port, you may have to remove the default Windows printer drivers before going to DOS mode. Alternatively, you might try booting your Win9x PC from a DOS floppy when you want to use P16PRO, avoiding Windows altogether. [the best of all possible worlds - ????!!!!].
