OOoops...
sorry You are entirely correct, RB6 & RB7 has nothing to do with the
uart
when concerning the pic, my project however needed these for
other communication related issues so I had 'this in my head' when
writing the un-thoughtful mail. 
Again sorry to all thoose on the list,

ICD does help when using the internal UART :-)
