Wojciech, thanks for the Altera info. I didn't realize they had a starter kit with VHDL. As far as LINUX, I see more vendors supporting it but, alas, no starter packages. A note on my Lattice buffered ispDownload cable; if you are using 5V logic, you can use either a 74HC or 74LS367. They switched to the 74LS version to support 3V parts. That and a change in pullup values are reflected in my schematic. Also note that you need to supply +5V as indicated in the schematic. I know this should be obvious but I did get some feedback by someone who had initial problems. The example programming board only shows examples for their 44 and 84-pin PLCC devices since they are more popular and easy to prototype compared to a TQFP package. - Tom At 02:20 PM 4/4/00 +0200, Wojciech Zabolotny wrote: > >The EMAX+ for Altera (with VHDL and Verilog entry, covering EPLDs up to 7000) >is also available for download with free starter License. > >The additional background of my desire to use the free/open source HDL >is that no one vendor provides the free starter tools for Linux platform, >and I really hate to reboot my machine to windows just to develop something >in VHDL or Verilog (first for stability reasons, then because all the servers >runing on my box are stopped for that time). > >-- > Thanks a lot, > Wojciech M.
