I don't see why not. ROMzap only needs the compiled HEX file.

I have not used a C compiler yet, but I imagine you can set 'org' type
of directives in your code. ROMzap generates *.asm templates, but not
for C compilers.

The boot programmer does not verify the programming it does so I would
not try this approach.
