I've just realised that the LED is being used as a voltage reference for the AtoD on the PIC chip - That's why it's connected to DRA3. But what is the 100R resistor to DRB2 for? Does the LED perhaps blink without going right off - just dimming once R5 is changed to 330R? The necessary sub min resistors should arrive in the post tomorrow for me to find out for myself.
