VC may be a couple of times faster than VB on the same computer, but that's not going to be an issue compared to the sluggish performance of MPASM/MPSIM. In 1987 I benchmarked an Alliant Unix-based machine in Fortran 77. This $250k minicomputer with 4-processors was the principal computing machine for an aerospace R&D center. A year or two ago I ran the same benchmark in VB6 on a Pentium III 333 MHz. The VB6 was 60x faster than the Alliant.
