First off...has anybody here gotton UIR to work with Linux...preferably
MPG123 and PlayMP3List?

Second...how do I know how to choose what kind of IR Receiver to use with my
remote?  I will probably be using ths little Credit-Card sized remote that
came with my Creative Labs Infra1800...how do I find out what (Carrier?
Offset?  I don't know the correct term but it is usually between 36 and
40KHz) Frequency to use?

In Linux, do you know if you can have an IR keypress (interperted by LIRC or
IRManager) to alias as a charactor, or if it has to do something in a
program...or can it be multiple characters?  Because I want several
different functions available at one IR keypress (Logon, Logoff, Mount,
Unmount, One keypress to mount NFS or SMB share and play mp3's off a
playlist on it, etc)

I'm pretty sure I will go with the UIR once I Order some PIC's through Prof.
