Grep is available as part of the Borland C++ compiler. And it is pretty much POSIX compliant. It does subdirectory recursion - I use it a lot on NT and '98/'95. The Borland C++ package is now free. Go to http://www.inprise.com/about/press/2000/bcppcompiler.html . I will make a rash assumption that the grep utility is in the free package .. it has been in all the Borland compilers since about 4.x (IIRC).
