You get what you pay for. I know that a chinese factory last year
interchanged the power pins, 1 and 2 on the header on 'alot' of its
production. They have been dumped on the second-hand market. Branco deals
in second hand stuff so explore this possibility.
The cost of reputable, guaranteed factory production of 2x16, backlit
LCDs is $US4. (Truly Brand, min 100.) Anything less than this is
distressed, second-hand stock - surplus. You are on your own, basically.
