The nice thing about building research gear is they are usually one
offs or are resident in our building here. So its all return to
workshop or we lug the laptop and ICE to the problem gear.
The only serious problem along those lines was generating serial
signals for automatic sealion feeders that were playing up at the
zoo. It was easiest to build a custom little board to generate the
signals as a piece of test gear.
