Tobias, I usually find that the SPI E2prom data sheet has enough information to code from. The one thing to watch if you are trying to write generic code, is that SPI can have 4 variations depending on clock phase and clock polarity, which is why you sometimes see parts listed as "1,1 SPI", etc. Although It's a while since I last coded for a PIC (I'm a convert to AVR), If you email me the relevant snippet of your code, I'll do a quick sanity check on it.
