Or for when the industry finally comes together with the 'one > true home networking protocol' > I have to say I think that home automation being adopted on a grand scale wont happen. I came to this conclusion after developing with the LON processor. The technology is way too expensive and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Its unacceptable to pay $100 for a fancy light switch (node) when a $5 one works just fine. Worse.. if it breaks you have to call a tech to programme in a new one. Sure there will be the enthusiasts or 'show' homes of the rich and famous but it reeks of expense and unreliability. A T.V. failing is a normal part of everyday life..yet this still gets some people irate.. but imagine no lights or power because of some glitch, we are talking mild mannered citizens turning to violence and using harsh language.... not pretty. (rant mode finished... resuming normal operation). _____________________________ Lance Allen Technical Officer Uni of Auckland Psych Dept New Zealand www.psych.auckland.ac.nz _____________________________
