I've upgraded two 16B1 (older variety with seperate RS232 driver and receiver). I programmed a BLANK 17C44 with the Phoenix code (a friend did this for me). Both units have been modified to program all 16C devices with no problems so far and this was done about 1 year ago. I have programmed 16C877 devices down to 12C508's with no problems so far. The best and simplest test is to read and program a 16C84 as the 16B1 could handle this with no adapters. If this works then check your adapter wiring very carefully.
