Works fine , ....but ...unplug the ICD

How do I run the Microchip ICD and demo board on its own?

I run a program in Debug mode and it works fine. I then want to run the
same program without debugging so I untick the Enable Debug Mode and
reprogram.
Nothing happens.
So what am I doing wrong?
