The 18CXXX series will probably not be available until around the end of 2nd quarter/beginning of 3rd quarter of this year according to a FAE I spoke to a while back. Pretty vague I know..but that's how these guys seem to be with new part availability dates.
Cheers

Subject: Does anyone know if PICs with onboard CAN support are actually available yet?
Hi,
I am part of a project group from the University of Exeter
(UK) researching the use of CAN in marine applications. We
would like to impliment our project if possible with a PIC
that supports the CAN protocol, rather than a seperate CAN
controller such as the MCP2510. We have been told that the
PIC18C658 and PIC18C858 support CAN, but we can't get any
info on them, data sheets etc. Does anyone know if either
of these (or any others) are actually available yet.
Cheers,
